A fresh start

Behold, the new Much Review About Nothing!

Confined indoors this weekend by Hurricane Irene, we took the opportunity to work on Much Review About Nothing. I finished a few long-gestating posts, and Sean put the finishing touches on this relaunch of my blog.

We’ll probably be tweaking it a bit in the weeks to come, but here are a few things to check out:

  • Comments are now open! You don’t need to register to post a comment, but comments from first-time commenters will be held in moderation until they’re OK’d to keep out spambots and trolls. We reserve the right to change this policy if we run into problems, but as this is just a modest little blog, I don’t expect too much trouble. I look forward to hearing what you have to say about what I write, so please feel free to tell me when you think I’m full of it!
  • We’re distinguishing between formal Review posts and shorter, bloggier posts. I love writing long reviews and will continue to do so, but I want to experiment with less formal posts—maybe about an intriguing movie preview or a song I particularly like or something interesting in the news. Reviews are labeled as such, and the first few paragraphs of them are posted on the blog’s home page. Other posts feature only a single sentence before the jump.
  • I’m not sure anyone will care about this, but for years, posts have been dated to when I began the entries, not to when they were actually published online. Starting now, that changes. Beginning with this post, the time stamps show date of publication—no more craziness with, for example, Sunday’s Julius Caesar post being labeled August 10, which is just embarrassing.

I’m so excited about this opportunity to reinvigorate my blog, opening myself up to responses and finding new things to write about. Sean and I welcome your feedback as we fine-tune the design. Much Review About Nothing might be a modest little site, but I love it dearly (and Sean, though ridiculously busy, is wonderfully supportive—thank you, Sean!). I’m eager to make it the best it can be.
