I won’t be writing much, if at all, this weekend because Sean and I are playing host to his niece Brooke, who is visiting New York for her sixteenth birthday. She’s never been to the city before, and we’re looking forward to showing her our adopted home and making sure she has a wonderful time.
As one who grew up happily surrounded by loving aunts and uncles, I’m excited about the prospect of being a “cool” aunt. I do wonder whether my being far more dorky than cool will be an impediment to that goal, but that never stopped Aunt Mary Sue, Uncle George, Aunt Holly, and Uncle Mark (haha! I kid!), so I’m hoping for the best. And regardless, I’m sure to have lots to write about afterward.
